The book addresses the meta reasons why journaling is so critical to science literacy along with specific details breaking down each step. This book is not just for teachers, but for anyone who wants to start or improve their nature drawing.
I am now converting lessons from this book for my students during remote learning and my students are loving it. Your email address will not be published. These pages are best used with younger children or those just beginning nature journaling and can easily be organized to create a beginner's nature notebook. All four nature journal page designs are included in one download.
One printable contains questions to prompt observations which is great for very young children. For those who want to ask their own questions or would like a bit more journaling freedom, the second printable replaces the questions with blank lines. Both printables are offered in a half-page and full-page format that can be 3-hole punched and placed into a full or mini binder. For a more effective journaling and sketching experience, I highly recommend printing the PDF onto a decent cardstock or art paper.
Two of the half sheet journaling pages will print on an 8. Simply cut the paper in half where the light gray dots are. The letter-sized printables also have a large margin for a punch or spiral binding. For the half sheet pages, I used a mini three-hole punch and placed the pages into a mini binder. Ring and spiral binding both work well because the cover can be opened completely to have a flat, unhindered surface for journaling and sketching, but I prefer a binder because notebook pages can be added or removed easily.
